Check-up medicine combines early diagnosis and prevention.

Vascular diseases and cancer are the most frequent cause for early death or handicap/disability. Apart from the identification of risk factors and derived prevention-strategies today non-invasive medical imaging (e.g. high-end-ultrasongraphy, MRT, CT, if necessary PET/CT) allows an exactly early diagnosis of vascular diseases as well as cancer. Thus, diseases can be detected and treated in a not yet symptomatic stage, i.e. before the "patient" notices any symptoms.

High-tech diagnostic modalities enable a fundamental shift of paradigm in medicine, with the goal to prevent the still healthy client to become a patient. Thus, a completely new dimension to preserve quality of life and avoid handicaps has become possible. Our current insurance systems (health insurance, pension insurance) do not yet realize this shift of paradigm, so that the use of these chances depends on personal initiative.

Check-up medicine in the EPC philosophy means exactly this combination of early diagnosis and preventive medicine. Check-up medicine may accomplish that clients who feel physically fit and want to engage in sports can do so without exposing themselves to possible medical risks (e.g. hidden heart or joint diseases). Final goal of a modern check-up medicine is the counselling for lifestyle/behaviour change in consideration of the individual clients living conditions. This can be supplemented by a sophisticated lifestyle coaching program.
